Before: we have a name and a legend. We want to make it come alive.
After: CASA BOEMA. Gradina de vara/ visual identity
A legendary restaurant in Cluj during interwar times, Casa Boema has a name with an aristocratic whiff and the building housing it dates back to 1869. In accordance with the design concept created by architect Cristian Corvin, we came up with the visual identity.
Of course, we strived to build on the rich historic inheritance and so created a logo that would show off the brand name, a very neat design for the materials, and a stylish communication, with a hint to 19th century charm. A likewise elegant street sign, small details in the restaurant that make a difference, a memorable experience and a lovely story to tell henceforth.
For the logo we chose a classic font: Bodoni, as we realized that it will flatter the brand name and compliment even more the historic facade.
The 2 menus are simply folded in half, printed on recycled cover paper, every one a distinct color. Giving homage to the romantic tradition of the place, the stationary reminds us of late 19 century newpapers, for which were used over 50 images of vintage engravings. The colors used are natural earth colors, and the 2 types of paper are 240g recycled paper, anice and avorio.
The people of Cluj rejoiced at the news of reopening a vintage favorite, many came to the grand opening and gave a toast to the reviving an old city legend. Many more came back for a meal, a drink with friends and declaring themselves enamored with the new-old place in town.
